Mystical beauty aglow
Bringing to life the sky
Whispers in my ear
A child’s lullaby
Her warm breath is the breeze
That blows against my back
Her golden aura lights up
Any room of black
She creates in me a feeling of peace
Content like a baby
Happiness at ease
To touch would ruin the mystery
To do so would satisfy the soul
I feel the love and strength in her hands
She is the mother of us all.
I wrote this so long ago. It was my last year of high school. I will never forget the moment it came to me. I was sitting on my back stairs gazing at the sky. It was summer, and still very warm out for being so late in the evening. I was not quite 18 years old. And then I noticed something I probably shouldn’t have. The totally hot older Italian guy who lived across the alley working out in his attic bedroom. Lifting weights with no shirt on. At 11 o’clock in the evening.
I submitted that poem to one of those National Library of Poetry contests. It was published in one of their books called The Space Between in 1993. Fun little time in my life.
Make sure you check out the moons beauty tonight when it’s the first of two full moons this month.
